Basic Bank Account Timescale

Hi
I applied for a co-op cashminder account the day after I was declared bankrupt on 11 October. I did this by phone. I received provisional acceptence within 10 days on the proviso that I confirmed my identity. I did this on 25 October by taking passport into London branch of the co-op who copied it and faxed it to their HQ.
I phoned regularly to track the progress. It took 8 days for them to receive the docs and then another 5 days to process
I received my paying in book with the account details today(15.11.06)
My card has veen despatched but not received yet
I post this just to let you know the mechanics/timescale so you can allow for the time involved. When I have opened other accounts in the past I have had it sorted within a week
Hope this helps some of you

Also in case some of you don't know
The cashminder has direct debit facilities and also an Electron card. You can have your wages/benefits paid into it as well
Don't let the past become your future
Change for the better
