Got an informal interview for a job tomorrow. Basically, its a quick 30 min get together before a possible proper interview.
The fella I'm meeting tomorrow is a friend of a friend (which is how I got onto this), so he just wants to me up to see if we can arrange something.
Should I still wear a suit and tie? Or just shirt/tie?

I'd still go with the suit and tie, especially if you would wear a suit and tie in the job, even if it turns out you are overdressed you could always say you have another interview to go to after meeting him. There's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.0 -
Had this dilemma today. I have dressed on the smarter end of how I would come to work every day, a suit would have been overkill (specially as we are meeting in a cafe). I would not be expected to go to client meetings in a suit at this company (it would be discouraged in fact).0

I would dress as you would for the interview or your first day. I had an informal chat for a school last week and I dressed as I would for the interview.0

Difficult one. I had an "informal chat" once and went in a shirt and trousers. Got the job, but it turned out the "informal chat" was the interview and the manager was really laid back lol0

Go for the most smart you can. It would be unusual for an interviewer to decide they don't like you because you were too smart, whereas not smart enough would be fairly common."Every single person has at least one secret that would break your heart. If we could just remember this, I think there would be a lot more compassion and tolerance in the world."— Frank Warren0

Went with the suit afterwards.0

Trousers are dark/black jean's, black/brown leather "going out" shoes, casual collared shirt but no tie.
The reason they do this is that a suit can make someone seem like something they're not AND casual dress makes all parties feel more comfortable during the interview.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
