Can Company Stop Me Working A Second Job?

As others have said, it's normally a "conflict of interest" thing they'd be worried about. They also need to ensure you comply with EU working hours limits (46 hours a week - don't think you can "opt out" if it's over 2 jobs).0

You should worry. I have seen some of the scandalous practices that council employees have got up to over the years.
An audit of e-mail accounts at one council department revealed that several people were actually operating businesses from their offices. They were using council computers, phones and of course time. Some even had business cards with their office number on. Much of it came to light when someone eventually noticed that several staff actually did no work whatsoever. One chap was actually arranging entry of illegal immigrants via his council e-mail box.
One true story of staff at a different council's crematorium made the papers. They ran an illicit video !!!!!! library from the office next to the ovens. They had made a fortune as a constant stream of 'mourners' beat a trail to the back door of the crem!
Possibly the best of all was the Chief Environmental Health Officer who had taken early retirement with a fat pension and lump sum. He had left and was using his last few days leave when someone found out that all the outsourcing to the private sector he had so carefully overseen was to a company he actually owned. Now that's a conflict of interest!0 -

The main issue is if you part time work for one of their competitors/ suppliers. Ok a store clerk is unlikely to have any insider knowledge but certainly management or analysts etc are likely to have information that others would be very interested in knowing or sales reps can take clients with them (to the one that pays the higher comission for example).... it is similar to have an anti competition clause. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -
Thanks guys, that's put my mind at rest.
No it's a *completely* different type of job in a different field, so if it's just 'clashes of interest' they're concerned about I'm sure there wont be a problem.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
