I made some yummy veggie soup on Friday which is still in the fridge. I was wondering how long I can safely keep it in the fridge, it is just veggie soup made with veg stock, no meat. I would hate to throw it if I can drag it out over the week for lunches.
Thanks
Just realised that this should be in quick questions thread - sorry

Till it doesn't look or smell right...Maybe a week? Could you freeze some?:footie:

Hi there is a thread - how long do you keep your homemade soup for?
I would keep it for around a week but normally would freeze in advance - rather than chance keeping it a week and finding it's gone off if that makes sense
Hope that helps- ill merge this later

Eh, I keep my veggie soups in the fridge for at least a week, often longer. Have you noticed the "use-by" dates on shop-bought ready-made soups? At least a week and add on to that the shipping-times since it was manufactured. I'd say that probs makes it about a fortnight of shelf-life. The fridge has to be good and cold, natch0

I'd keep it for about 4 days, although I'm sure it would keep longer.
I'd freeze the rest now, if possible, in portions and defrost the night before.0 -
Thanks everyone
I only have about 2 bowls left - one of which I'm eating now. Will freeze next time I think, as nice as it is after eating every day for four days I'm getting a bit bored with it nowGC 2023 June £72/500 NSDs 1/100 -
It's 100% OK for 3-4 days. After that it's down to how well you stored it and whether you "fancy it" any more0

I make a big pot of vegetable soup once a week.Once it's cooled down (the next day usually),I keep the pot in the fridge. It keeps for about seven days.Sometimes the last bowlful tastes slightly acidic, but I have eaten this without becoming ill.
I would consider freezing portions,but have a tiny freezer.HTH.0 -
