Help with Bailiffs

Could someone please offer a bit of guidance with a problem with Council tax collection?
I lost my job in the middle of January, i'm owed in the region of £3000 from my employer, we were expecting this 2 weeks ago but he has said that he is unable to pay it until he also receives a payment from a contract that is in dispute with one of his customers, as a result of the missing salary and redundancy it has hit us hard, we are already in an IVA which I have managed to defer any further payment until April, but we still have a mortgage and a secured loan, our council tax has also been in arrears which eventually went to court and we agreed with the bailiff what we could afford at the time, however now our circumstances have changed they are not interested and are still demanding the same amount to be paid each month, we are having now to borrow money from friends and family to stop them recovering the costs by removing furniture etc from our home, Its not all doom and gloom and we will get out of this hole we are in at the moment, but we just wondered if there is anything we can do or say to try and lower this payment until we are able to afford it.

Then you have relatively little room for maneouvre (SP).

trying ringing the bailiff advice line ans see if there is any way you can shift this. It is a premium rate.

Or pm Herbie21 ion here and she may respond for free.

And please, next time, keep them out (I learned the hard way as well), because they will have added up to £250 in fees when you opened the door, some of which may not be legit.

  • Thanks Ras for your response, hopefully there won't be a next time, I will spend a bit time on here and see how I can check their fees
