Mach 3 or is it me?

Has anyone else noticed the huge increas in the cost of Mach 3 blade between 31st Dec and 4 Jan, when I looked at the 8 pack they were aroun 9 pounds or so beofre and now they can be as high as 11quid odd?

I used to buy them cheap on Ebay but even they are expensive....anyone any ideas on where you can get a good price?

I also have a safety razor that takes trad blades and they are super cheap even for good quality blades but to get the best you need to spend time on prep and stuff and some mornings I just want to have a quick shave.

Any help appreciated as always.:rotfl:

I've tried a few razor samples in the past and found Wilkinson Sword Xtreme 3 to be the best. I've been using these blades for quite some time now and can say that I'm quite satisfied - I have a very tough beard too. They are also much cheaper than Mach 3 blades.

I mostly buy these whenever they are on offer. As a matter of fact, Sainsbury's currently have a very good offer on in-store and online.

Wilkinson Sword Xtreme 3 Comfort Plus Sensitive Razor (8) £3.06 (38.3p/Razor) reduced from £6.12 valid until 08/03/2011.

Wilkinson Sword Xtreme 3 Comfort Plus Sensitive Razor (4) £1.87 (46.8p/Razor) reduced from £3.75 valid until 08/03/2011.

Wilkinson sell packs of 10 twin blade disposable razors for 30p. Assuming that you were to get one use out of them before binning and that you shave daily, a year's supply would cost £11.10
  • I wonder if they are any good to be honest Coopdivi, though at 30p for 10 I suppose it would do no harm to try them.

I have to admit, I get at least 1 month out of the Wilkinson Sword Xtreme 3 razors. I don't really feel that much difference in the sharpness though I suppose there might be some difference with the first shave you get from these but not much really. So I guess this would only cost me about £4.60 a year doing it this way after buying the 8 blades mentioned above.

I did used to change my blades every few days when I was using Gillette Contour blades but they were nearly as expensive as the Mach 3 blades. I gave up on these when they started to only sell the ones with the soapy strip, I hated them as I thought they were too gooey. The Xtreme 3 razors also have a similar strip but don't appear to be as bad. I started using an electric shaver after that until it conked out. You really don't get a close shave using an electric shaver though so started to experiment with a few free sample razors until I decided on the Xtreme 3 razors.

Personally I'd steer clear of really cheap razors though unless you're willing to try them.
  • thanks for both of your replies Coop and Lugh.

My safety razor works out about 10p a blade but it's a good quality modern razor I want when I haven't got the time, I've use the M3's for some time and found them to work well with my face and stubble thus the question, but I'm also happy to change over to a different brand/model if the price is right as well as the Quality.

Was in Sainsburys last night and M3s now £15!!!!!

Please Martin should look at this it's the same with womens blades too.

Ebayers have brought their prices up by the looks of it so they are slightly cheaper but still the overall trend seems to have been a price explosion.
