Payday loans advice

Foolishly I have taken out 2 payday loans.. anyway in order to get myself in order this month and pay priority bills first I have cancelled my debit card and am in the process of writing to the pd loans folk to arrange a payment plan. Is cancelling the debit card enough to prevent them taking the money or do I need to close the account? I don't have any other debt so can pay these people off in good time - just not all in one go this month.

Your best bet is to open a new bank account, otherwise they will try and raid your account. Halifax and Co-op both do good basic accounts and you can apply online. Then, just before you default personally I would let your PDL companies know that you cannot pay them this month and that you wish to come to a payment arrangement. They may huff and puff for a week or two but they will give in in the end. Just as long as you keep in contact with them. You don't have to speak with them, emailing them will suffice. But definitely change your bank over. Good LuckMy LBM - December 2010!
