Hmm! that is odd. Check the tariff on the meter, it should say what you are paying for day and night.

Have you tried turning everything off to see if the meter is still counting when you have nothing on.

Hi..I still do..last winter, even more than that.....over 95% of my consumption was off-peak....used to get up early, washing machine, tumbler, cooking, hot water.....everything on the off-peak...

This quarter I expect roughly the same.

summer time less than a quarter of the above, per quarter....
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

yes, we checked all the tariffs etc when we moved in as there was an issue of whether the previous tenant had been in debt..but there doesnt appear to be a debt on the meter...my washing machine goes on 3 times a day, so I guess that doesnt help..we are quite energy concious so try not to use things unless we cant avoid it..we do put one wash on over night and also the dishwasher goes on overnight too

might try turning everything off tomorrow and checking meter

I have 5..but one is at uni..I think the teen is a majot culprit..he leaves, his tv, lights etc on his room

Im fairly bemused by why we use so much..we have an electric hob and oven. which seems to sap a lot of electricity...
  • I could be wrong but I think the standing charge is higher for pre payment meters

My gas and electric costs are similar to yours. £80 each per month.

Our OR commented that they seemed a little high, but he didn't take it any further or ask to see bills.

I think we are in the same boat regarding teens!! My DS is terrible for leaving everything on, its a constant nag of mine!!!

O dear, I sympathise! Its not uncommon for mine to pop out and when I ask him why his computer is left on he says 'well I'll be back in a couple of hours' so its not worth turning it off

Soon drummed that out of him

If you ever feel like a chat or vent/rant :D pop in the Inn, everyone is really welcome :)
  • I am doing my best to drum his energy wasting ways out of him!

Can I pop into the inn..even though I havent gone BR yet?
