Hello everyone!!
My OH and I are thinking of getting married and want to do it as quietly and quickly as possible.
Can anyone tell me how long a registry office wedding takes? Ideally we just want to say 'I do', sign and then scarper!! Not very romantic I know
but thats what we would prefer.
Thanks in advance!! :happyhear

I think its less than half an hour in the ceremony but you will need to meet the registrar first seperately, that doesnt last long either thoughI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0

It's what I did
I had been living with my partner for a while and I just wanted to be married - having a wedding was not the important thing to me
It was a very simple and intimate occasionNot Rachmaninov

I'm pretty sure the basic registry office ceremony takes 15mn.
However you should check with your local council what the wording and timings are exactly.:grinheart It's Mrs Coupon now - saving and comping my way to a brighter future :grinheart0 -
You could try your Local Authority website - ours has details of all the ceremonies they provide and gives an indication of timings etc.
As an example, Ealing Council ceremonies guide can be viewed online at http://www2.ealing.gov.uk/ealing3/export/sites/ealingweb/services/community/births_deaths_marriages/marriages/_marriage_docs/Ealing_Ceremonies_Guide.pdf
This guide suggests that the whole ceremony, including the preliminary discussions with the Registrar, will last about 20 minutes.0 -
About 20 mins seems right based on the very simple registry office wedding I went to last year. That was just the basics, no readings, no extras0

Ring your local reg office and make an appointment to give notice and choose a date (while your on the phone to them, you could ask about what date you want).
Turn up on said date.
Say your vows. (basic vows about 10 minutes)
