Don't you just hate wonga ?

I sure as hell do, I took a small loan out with this lot, didn't have sufficient funds in my account to pay it back (Accidently made the repayment date 2 days before my actual payday), My fault, Silly me, Anyways, I tried phoning them up to arrange a payment from another account of mine, Getting through to their customer service department was by far the most annoying experience, What kind of company makes you hold 30 minutes before some clueless person answers the phone ? Unless they receive thousands of complaints each day (The more viable option), The ignorant idiot on the other end of the phone said i had to pay a £12 fee, And interest will be added onto my account, Then he told me i couldn't make the payment from my other account and it had to be off the card i registered it as, Probably so they make 2 days worth of interest, and wack as many charges onto it, Probably the most rudest person i've ever encountered, So i phoned them on my payday to make a payment and well, I waited 28 minutes on hold before giving up and just hanging up, Haven't heard from them since, anyone else have any stories about wonga ?

The only people who have issues with Wonga (or any PDL company) are the ones that are too stupid to comply with what they signed up to, then get charged for it.

People who use the PDL companies, do so because they need the money, the op admitted that he mistakenly gave them the wrong pay date. I don't think that suggesting he is stupid is helpful.

We don't know his circumstances, but the one thing we do know is that these companies often prey on the vulnerable, they lend money to those that are in dire straits then get indignant when it isn't paid back on time and start adding charges, which only puts the customer into further debt.

I know they are in business to make money, but surely a bit of empathy wouldn't go a miss.

What is there to empathise with?
Money borrowed + not paying back = further charges
It's not as if these companies, no matter how scummy they are, hide the terms and conditions.

You can log into the websites of these companies and pay anyway if you get something wrong or want to pay early.

What do you expect from a company that charges 4214% APR? I would have thought their business aim was fairly transparent; make as much money as possible from those desperate enough to accept their terms.

The OP certainty didn't have any problem questioning the intelligence of the Wonga employee on the end of the phone.

To be fair you'll understand when you wait 30 minutes on hold to resolve an issue there and then by offering payment, Not only that but they've racked up about £12 in call charges, Disgraceful customer service, What happened to the days of putting the customer first?

I love how suddenly you assume that i took a loan out without the intention of paying it back, I understood my mistake, And held on the phone for 30 minutes, To be told i cant pay it on the day as it had to be taken off the card i registered the loan with, Basically they knew if i didn't pay on the day they make more in charges, Although i cancelled that card and have blocked wonga any access to taking anything from my account.

And before anyone else says the typical 'this is what you get when you take out a loan and pay it back' i offered a full payment on the due date, You guys try taking a loan out and making a wrong pay date, Then waiting 30 minutes on the phone (Build up nearly £12 of call charges) and speak to some clueless uneducated human being.

They put you first in lending money to you when no mainstream lender would consider you. Take it as a learning experience and move on.

Do you not realise that Wonga will still want their money back, and you are building up further charges?

    Why cancel your card?

Why not admit that you got the dates of your payday wrong and pay the fine?

I fear you will have more to pay because you are ignoring them.
