Trying to make my shoes smaller!

Options
Have a slight problem....
Bought a really great pair of boots but after wearing them in now for a week they are way too big, as in probably a size too big and I keep tripping up which is not what I want as at the moment I am recovering from two leg injuries and a back injury!

I have put fleece insoles in and heel insoles in at the same time, they are still too large.

Does anyone know of any insoles which are thick and stay thick or even any that are specially designed for this reason? The boots costed me a small fortune (even if they were paid for by survey vouchers!!) and I really don't want to throw them away!

    Would thick socks help?

Wearing general cotton socks- could wear two pairs but really didn't want to resort to that as I wanted to wear these boots for a good few months and could see my feet becoming overheated and sweating. But thanks for the idea :)

Have you tried gel insoles? They seem more grippy than the ordinary sort and might hold your feet in place better.

I've also used the sheepskin liners from Poundland successfully.

I have narrow feet so the majority of my shoes are a bit too big! I always use extra thick insoles I get from my local chemist. You should be able to buy them online. For boots I'd wear a thick pair of socks as well, as you're unlikely to wear them in the summer.

Thanks for the tips- will try local chemist!

Had tried Boots (the store) for gel insoles, they have loads of orthopedic insoles at £20+ and they all promised to be slimmer or thinner or etc and this made me think they maybe wouldn't make a difference but hadn't accounted for them being more grippy so maybe this is the way to go!

Have actually emailed the store I bought them from to see if they can offer any suggestions. They were so helpful before so am praying they have some sort of a solution as already wearing my thickest socks and they are too large, seems a waste if I can't wear them anymore and hugely gutting.

I have at the moment a pair of fleece insoles in and a pair of heel insoles in (from Foot Locker) yet they are miles too big, I think I'd need at least another pair of gel insoles and then maybe something else... fingers crossed and poundland/the pound store/savers...etc here I come!
I am wondering if I have spotted a business opportunity here:) insoles to take up 1/2 sizes of boots and shoes, most claim to be thinner or air like-as in not taking up any space, but none claim to take up half a shoe size.
