What can I do?
Surely they can't do this.
I've had no warnings, no disciplinary issues, no previous problems at all.
I'm so angry.

How long have you worked for them? Did they give a reason?0

I've been there for about 6 months.
They've said it's because I've failed to perform as required.
But I've had no warning prior to my meeting this evening.0 -
Because you've been there less than 12 months, they're well within their rights to do that I'm afraid.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

How long is 'just before' you intended to take maternity leave?
If you have left it late to tell them officially ie 15 weeks prior to DD, could they respond ' You are 6/7 months pregnant so it was obvious you were expecting for the last 3 months. Our decision has nothing to do with your pregnancy.. ' ?
If they said you failed to preform as required, was there an initial 6 month review stated when you started, ie forwarning you that a decision is made at this point?
Do you have guidelines for performance from when you started, and have you met them?"On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -
Not if the OP can show that this is connected to her pregnancy!
It is well worth taking some professional advice on this.
I agree, it is well worth speaking to ACAS or CAB about this. On the face of it your circumstancs would highlight discrimination, a claim which is uncapped at an employment tribunal.
Firstly if I was you lodge a grievance asking for reasons of dismissal just to show your willing to investigate. If it was due to performance and nothing has been notified prior or given you the chance to hear the performance issues and time to improve I would say they have been very foolish and left themselves open for a claim given the circumstances.
That is just my assumption though and not based on any fact.0
