Quick chicken question!

Hi there,
I just have a quick question and I'm hoping someone here will know the answer!
I was trying to go along the theme of making food that lasts as shopping is so expensive now so I bought a huge chicken. We had it yesterday as a roast. I kept the leftovers in the fridge and used some cold for lunch as a pasta salad. Then I made a chicken curry with the rest of the leftovers of which there is still quite a bit left. The remainder is now in the fridge and I was thinking about having it on my jacket potato for lunch tomorrow.
Question is; the chicken has now been cooked once when roasting and again in the curry, is it ok to reheat tomorrow? Obviously it will be cooked to a high temp first.
Thanks in advance,
Cheryl

Hi, No I wouldn't cook it again.

Cook raw once, re-heat cooked chicken once, and that is it. Do I take it you now have cooled chicken curry. :)

Someone will be along to say if its still okay to eat it, if it was me and if I was still going to eat it, I would have it as a cold topping on the jacket.

So as you don't have chicken in various ways for the next few meals, after cooking a big chicken, its quite alright to freeze it in portions in between. :)

I asked this question the other day... My thread starts at the bottom of page 4 including responses.

I was told 'officially no' but many people said yes you can.

I had it in soup, and made sure I heated it VERY thoroughly and I was fine.

You have to make up your own mind though.

  • Cold chicken jacket it is! Wouldn't have normally even thought to ask this question just gone with the 'it'll prob be ok' attitude but as i'm pregnant thought id better be a bit careful, which means if the official answer is no, then i wont risk it just in case!
Hadn't even thought about freezing it and only using what I need, perhaps I shall invest in some freezer bag type things now that I am trying to more more organised and that!
    Thanks for your replies :)

I would - As long as its reheated really well so its really boiling then it should kill any bacteria.

I often make a curry from leftovers, then freeze, then reheat.
