You obviously have no understanding of what I've been through and yes it pxxs me off that you have a holier than though attitiude.

I got myself into a complete mess many years ago and my personal and work life all dissapeared as a result. Now I am getting things back together, I was looking for info on my current situation. If I wanted a smart !!!! comment I would have put the post under "smart !!!! comment wanted".

Oh. And beware the "Because you didn't give a new address, the debt can't be statute barred" nonsense that some debt collectors come out with.

There is a section in the law that prevents a debt becoming statute barred in the case of "fraud, concealment or mistake" over any court action they might take.

But that only applies if you:

1) Conceal the fact that the creditor has a right to take you to court in the first place.
2) The creditor could not have reasonably discovered the fact of any concealment.

Neither applies, as a creditor can lawfully at any time get a CCJ by serving papers at your last known address.

So, i would say again, I hope you learned from it. Looks like you have but youve grown a chip on your shoulder in stead.

You were looking for reassurance that you did not need to pay back all the debt you got into.

There isnt a board called 'smart !!!! comment wanted'

I'm not just looking for reassurance, but need to understand what position I'm actually in, as I do not want to find myself in a situation where I'm firefighting something I don't need to
