The Housework Lovers Thread

Hi
Not exactly a housework lover but I have got better since I bought a new cooker-the kitchen is much cleaner and I want my cooker to stay lovely and shiny. I'm always cleaning the induction glass hob.:):jand protect it with hobrite.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -
I joined the other thread too, but that was mainly because I just haven't been bothered to do housework in the past week (or 2).
I also like a clean house, I just don't love getting it that way. I put things away as I use them, hoover regularly, do the dishes, washing etc. It's the floors which are the bane of my life. I was going to wash them today but as it's pouring with rain and I have two biggish dogs, there's not much point.
I've also been to my friends' houses where I wasn't sure if I would walk out of there alive, and it's made me realise that I'm actually quite houseproud. However, if there's something better to be doing, I'll do that and sort the house out later. It does help that my OH is away quite a lot as things stay clean and tidy once I've done it.

I'm with you on this - I don't mind most types of HW. Sometimes have to force myself but always pleased when the place looks tidy. I too get mithered if it looks untidy and mind it stops me getting on with other things!
My best friend is TOTALLY not into housework and I struggle not to get the cleaning materials out when I visit (which sadly I do infrequently). I don't think she 'sees' the mess/dirt  etc though and is happy so I have to bite my tongue, stick my hands in my pocket and take a deep breath.
At her previous house I stayed there one day when she was at work and admit to having a scrub around the kitchen and bathroom (though I never told her:o) and I don't think she noticed:(. I thought when she moved house and had a new bathroom etc this may be the impetus she needed - sadly not
:(
I think my main objective is tidiness and cleanliness but not OTT (ie there will be dust and dog hairs :rotfl:)

I hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread but I thought one of you might be the best to help me. I am looking to buy something like this (http://www.slingsby.com/p-44278-handy-cleaning-tidy-slingsby.aspx?sku=360355&utm_source=google&utm_medium=basefeed&) to carry all my cleaning stuff about the house with me so I don't end up with armfuls of bottles, cloths etc etc which I then inevitably drop.
Do any of you have one of these and if so where did you get it from and how much was it? Or have you found another good way of ferrying everything from room to room whilst cleaning?
Thanks for your help!0 -
Hi Katini
I bought one exactly the same from Wilkos, it was about 2 years ago and it was about £3.00. probably cost bit more now. I love it as if i dont use it for some reason im constantly up and down the stairs forgetting stuff all the time.March 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000 -

The ones I can see online seem to come from horsey shops, if you have an equestrian shop near you, maybe that would save on postage?

Hi katini
Can I ask why you have armfuls of stuff for cleaning? I only ask because I wonder if, like I used to, you have a cleaner for everything.
I now use the following:
Stardrops
Microfibre cloths (4 for £1 in £land)
white vinegar
lemon
soda crystals
bicarbonate of soda
Costs very little and the stardrops thread will tell you it can be used for everything, even washing up and cleaning carpets ( I only use it for general cleaning tho')

I have a tidy and fairly well ordered home, as in you will get a clean cup here ( have a pathalogical aversion to stained cups..ugh!) but I do struggle to clean, stuff like hoovering under the beds and cleaning the windows.
I don't think my mother helped as she loves cleaning, but used to let it get to disaster level and then do a mammoth session with loads of buckets of hot soapy water and shouting.
I really dislike housework, I find little joy in it, but love a clean place.
If any of you 'clean' ladies would be kind enough to post your tips and routines, I'd be very grateful. I've tried flylady but just couldn't 'get it' somehow, although I have found a bunch of her stuff very helpful.
I guess I'm housework challenged.0 -
Hi
I'm 8 and half months pregnant and nesting like mad so I really love reading things like this at the moment!
I actually enjoy 'doing' the housework as well as the finished 'results' (although im not usually like this!)
It's really nice to relax in the evenings once my toddler is fast asleep, in a clean and tidy house. I love it! I light some candles, put a lamp on and snuggle down on the sofa with a mug of hot chocolate!
Also I just love scrubbing things at the moment and I know this sounds strange but I just love bubbles and the sound of things being scrubbed?! I go off into my own little world cleaning the kitchen and house with the music on!
In fact right now im fighting the urge to go up into the bathroom and clean the sink and bath!!
Pregnancy is quite strange!0
