how long do defaults & ccjs last

hi - I know both stay on your credit file for 6 years - is that from the date they are issue or from when they are settled?

eg - i have a ccj and have been paying £50 per month off it for nearly 6 years but have a few thousand left to go -will it stay on my credit report until i pay of the debt?

Same goes for my defaults....will take me longer than 6 years to pay off im afraid.

Thanks for your help

They come off 6 years after they are raised. Although presumably, you will not be too bothered about needing a clean record until they have been paid off?
