Hi, i'm new to this site and am looking for advice.
I have been given notice to leave the house that I rent and will be doing so in a week.
I am a single mum and will therefore receive benefits for the rent on a private property. I have found a property to rent.
I am able to afford the house and everything that goes with it, but am struggling to find the deposit and first months rent.
Any advice on what to do? I have tried loans from banks etc. but all refused. Tried to increase my overdraft - refused. I have no friends, family etc. to help.
Help?

Will you not get a deposit back from the house you are leaving you can use towards the new property?
Maybe a crisis loan or budgeting loan from the social fund would be available for this situation?
Also maybe look at this advice from shelter on bond deposit schemes - http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/paying_for_a_home/tenancy_deposits/bond_schemesA smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Unfortunately my Dad has asked for the deposit for the current property to be returned to him as it was him that paid it.0

speak to the local council housing benefits dept they have means of helping with deposits0

Crisis Loans do Rent in Advance, give them a call. Local Authorities do a Bond/Deposit scheme normally.0

Councils will often help with deposits but be warned that this may mean you coming off the housing list which may not matter but might be an issue.0

I work for Housing Benefit and our authority does not offer any help with deposits for rental properties.Like a PP said the DWP might be able to offer you a loan but that will obviously come of your benefits each week. Do you have a local credit union?0

Post 1 - I have no friends or family.
Post 3 - My dad has asked for the deposit back.
Will your dad really see you homeless if you can't get the deposit?0
