Who is requesting the letter? and exactly what are they asking for?

In the past I have set organised these, and have had no problem, it could be the employer is being asked for something a little more than is needed? I always find it best in these circumstances to confirm what the lender requires, and obtain it, no more, no less.

  • The Spanish Inquisition strikes again.

Seems to me the sensible solution is to ask Santander exactly what they expect from the employer. It will be laid down in their staff processing/underwriting manual and as such should be capable of articulation in plain English to those that need to know.

The Employer may require telephone confirmation from Santander of this precise point. Anyone providing a reference is now aware of the blame/claim culture now prevalent in financial matters and as such they are wary of the Bank attempting to hold them responsible for their confirmation.

Another time that a "straightforward " mortgage goes wrong where a brokers intervention could at the very least decypher the requirements of the Lender.
