Virgin / MBNA CC ..... feel sick...first letter

Hi Guys,
I am just about to send my '28 day please dont do anything on my account' letter to Virgin explaining i am receiving guidance about my debts etc,
Is the adress i send it to the one on my statements ?
Royal Ave, Widnes, WA88 1AT ?

Also when i am ready to send the ones to Lloyds TSB do i send that to the PO Box address ?

And finally, do i send these recorded delivery ??

I feel phyically sick that i am in this position, but finally, I just cannot afford to pay with interest rates at 29%

I have posted this in the CC board, but not sure if that was the right place or not, so i posted here too :o

  • Hi. Not sure about your Virgin/MBNA but the address I use for MBNA administered accounts is MBNA Customer Assurance, PO Box 30, Chester Business Park, Chester, CH4 9FD.
LLoyds - Consumer Debt Recovery, Three City Park, The Droveway, Hove, BN3 7AG.
Yes, always send registered (special delivery if you are flush!) post so you have proof of posting/delivery.
Easier said than done, but try not too get too stressed. You are doing something positive about your situation and there's lots of non-judgemental good advice on these boards.

Sent token payments (for the start of the DMP) to : -
    Virgin Credit Card
    Royal Avenue
    Widnes

Other query reverting to paper statements went to: -

    MBNA Credit Card

    Chester Business Park

Be sure to enclose a token payment each month. It is vital you show you are willing to pay, even a very small amount helps.

Just a point, recorded delivery gives you proof of delivery and is much cheaper.

    Hi
Try not to worry in 12 months no one has called at my home had the threats they will
so try not to worry and if they did tell em to go away you will only deal in writing and shut the door
It does get easier I sleep better now so will you
And if your Hubby is with you what more do you want
  • I think the fact that they are charging 29% interest when the Bank of England Base Rate is 0.5% in nothing short of criminal. .....Haven't seen George Osbourne doing anything about that !!!!

  • Hi

I was like you, not able to sleep or eat with worry. However, when I sent off my letters and knew I'd started the ball rolling I started to feel better. I had lots of phone calls from MBNA, usually very aggressive women from India but just refuse to answer their security questions, send them the letter about only contacting you by letter, it takes a while to work but threaten to sue them if they continue to call.

After a while I decided to start playing with them when the called and said that I couldn't answer their questions until they gave me their full names, dates of birth and mothers maiden name, they soon stopped calling. Then I phoned CCCS to start my DMP, best thing I've ever done. No phone calls or letters at all after that.

I can sleep at night and eat normally. The only thing that keeps me awake at night now is the blooming owl in the tree in the back garden who has got very talkative.

Remember to keep calm, they can't have what you don't have. You will be debt free, just not yet. As long as you make token payments until you get yourself sorted out, you'll be fine.

If you need to talk there are always people here to listen and offer advice and support, you are not alone (don't mean that in a scary way).
Getting there, slowly but I WILL be debt free before I retire
  • Hi
    Just wanted to say welcome
I also have been on a DMP with CCCS, before I started I couldn't sleep and was a complete wreck, I eventually broke down to my mum and thought I was the only person in the world in that position. I stumbled upon this site before the start of the DMP and the help and support on this site is amazing. people are not here to judge just to help.
I still have a way to go but I receive no correspondance from my creditors (MBNA & Natwest) other than a letter every 6months reminding me to continue with the agreement.
I have found that keeping a spending record(mine is on excel so can update when surfing this site) and carefully budgeting now comes as second nature.

So please dont worry and release that unlike many other people in this country you have addressed the problem and are working to a debtfree future.:j
