Maxtra Filter Cartridges Vs Unbranded Filter Cartridges

Hi all,
I am looking to buy an Aluna water filter jug (Brita). It takes Brita's Maxtra water filter cartridge. Has anyone used a filter jug that uses Maxtra and used unbranded filters like Boots or Asda instead?
I only ask because I see these unbranded filters and think to myself "if I buy this jug, would an unbranded cartridge fit?". Any help, thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated

I used to have a Brita filter jug (the old type) and used Kenwood's filter cartridges as they were cheaper than Brita's. I don't think they do Maxtra type equivalent though.
I'm now using an Aqua Optima filter jug as their cartridges are much cheaper than Brita's, think they are cheaper than Kenwood's as well. The water here (London) is quite hard and find these work fine for me.
Not sure where the cheapest place is for the filter jugs though Amazon were selling one for £5 last week but has gone up to £7.69. I also tend to keep an eye on HotUKDeals by searching their site for best deals on filter cartridges. You could also try searching the MegaShopBot.0 -
Thanks for your response and also the links, Lugh_Chronain
I have to admit I did also have a look at Aqua as I noticed their filters cartridges were much cheaper on the Asda website compared to the Brita filters cartridges.:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:D:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:jMe and the gang!!!0 -
