Money On The Brain Morning, Noon & Night !

I think I need councelling.....seriously is there such thing ????

I think about money 24/7.

If I have it I have to spend till its all gone, if Ive got none I will do anything to get some, this really is ruining my life, everything I think about , everything I do revolves around money !!

I have debts, im not a fan of material things havent a clue where it stems from??

As soon as I wake in the morning, Im thinking how much have I got in my purse, whats coming out or in to the bank that day etc etc

Can anyone relate to this? Also I dont know where to go for help, I want to get out of this way of thinking but cant do it on my own, its getting worse day by day.

Your obsession with money may stem from you contantly having to think about the debt you are in and the stress it may be causing you.

You don't mention how much debt or how serious a problem it is, if it is a problem but you may want to contact a debt charity to talk about a plan to repay your debt if you're not on top of it already.

Why not draw up your income and expense so you know how much money you have coming in and how much going out which may make you feel a bit more in control of your finances?

    Hi Stokelady,

The constant thoughts about cash may well be linked to the debts as they are making you worry about the thing. Definitely contact the consumer credit counselling service or national debtline for advice and support regarding your debts. You can also post on the forum as you wish.

    Good luck

If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

    £2 savings jar £300:D
Total credit card debts £1250:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: - Will I ever learn!!
  • Thats the strange thing, the debt doesnt worry me, most are really old from when I was married and I havent heard from them in many years.

Its the inability to have save, I have to spend until every penny is gone, then I worry about where the next bit of money is coming from !

I feel councelling really is the way forward, I need to take my mind off the subject! Really dont think its a matter for the doctor.............any ideas what I should do?

Sounds silly but this really is ruining my life at the moment and is getting worse by the week !!

I think you need to do yourself an soa so you have it written down all your incomings and outgoings and then set up a direct debit into a savings account each month (if you can afford to). This would get you more organised with money and you will i am sure think twice before 'wasting' any money if you can see it all written down
Also once you start seeing some savings building up it will give some peace of mind

  • Are you sure you are not subconsciously worrying about the old debts? If you have not really dealt with these is there a feeling that somehow its all going to catch up with you one day?

At one time in my life I had an ostrich attitude to money. I knew I was in debt but not by how much and I sort of knew I was living beyond my means but didnt really understand the impact of this.

It was a huge shock once I sat down and worked it all out but now I worry about it less. Although I am far more aware of the financial mess I am in I do feel more in control of it, if that makes sense!
