I'll need to check it again, but last time I looked, the secured loan from First Plus that is on my file (loooong story) was showing as satisfied...which it certainly isn't!

Quite likely its been sold on to a debt collector - who will register the same debt in their name on your credit file.
If a DCA start debt collection procedures and start chasing you for it why do you think you will be able to 'see them off'? If its been sold on then now is when there is an increased risk of you being taken to court.
