Never yet had a decent piece of meat from Tesco. Waitrose, yes, even Lidl, yes, but Tesco meat has always been very poor quality for us.

And as for the bacon........Waitrose bacon, by comparison with any grade of Tesco bacon, is far superior, and without all the nasty white gunk. Dearer, yes - but not that much dearer for a much better quality product, with a lot less waste.
  • I'd buy pork from Tesco but never beef. We've tried it a few times over the years but it's never been any good.
The rump from MrM when it was on offer the other week was impressive. The marks steaks are fairly small but they are always good.
  • Thanks - have had some lovely beef from our Tesco and certainly stands up to our local butcher the majoity of the time especially their aberdeen angus range.

It's a shame they seem to have such varying quality, the stuff in ours is always bright orangey-coloured and definitely not good, whatever the cut.
  • Has the offer already started? been this morning especially for this no offer in Dereham Norfolk!!
  • We find Tesco steak horrid, only good for the dog. Morrisons is far superior
    Don't waste your words I don't need,
    Anything from you.
    I don't care where you've been or,
    What you plan to do.

Oh got some of the morrisons sirloin valentine steaks, mmmmmm.

I agree about the meat I would go to one of the local farm shops or butchers. The only supermarket meat I have had that is any good was morrisons or sainsburys. But we don't have a waitrose here so can't talk about their meat.

Local butchers may have better steak, but sometimes they do things that you really don't want to know about. Like I saw a reputable butcher that had been there years and he had a someone work for him get a load of beef - they're whole large cuts of a carcass. They were unloading it from a car boot as I walked by. They had put something on the bottom of the boot before putting the beef in, but all the sides etc were dirty and they were putting food in there.

Ner, I'd much rather buy from the supermarkets these days if possible.
