gym membership?

hi there, any advice?
i had a gym membership which was cancelled last june and think i only had a couple of months left.
Cancelled the dd with the intention of paying when i was more flush however forgot, and received a letter yesterday saying i owe £82 within 7 days, which is 3 months payment.
can they really demand this within 7 days?

I'd call them and say it was an error, ask if you can repay over 3 months.

Yes they can demand it within 7 days. Do you really mean 'can they enforce it'? No they can't and they can't send bailiffs unless they have a court order - although they can send a doorstep collector. Your first step should be to check with your terms and conditions how much you do owe. And then send some money and propose a repayment schedule.

oh right thanks for you replies. apparently i owe 3 months at £25 each month and £8 admin charge,

Forget the £8 'admin' charge, unless it was in the original contract.
