Furious with metropoitan services

I have a an arrangement with Metropolitan to repay a business debt from a previous Limited company i had. I was told there was a personal guarantee on my old LTD company account with HSBC and that it had a personal guarantee attached to it. I have been paying £150.00 per month since August 2008. As i do not recall signing a personal guarantee with HSBC i wrote to Metropolitan on 28th Dec 2010. Two weeks ago they cashed my cheque for the sum of £10 to provide the information they hold on me. 43 days later i still had not heard anything so i telephoned them today to be told as its a LTD company debt they can not give me any information and i need to go back to my bank. I am fuming as i've wasted all this time and now i have to go to HSBC. I just have a funny feeling there is no personal guarantee thats why i requested it.
If i find out that they have no personal guarantee would i be entitled to a refund on payments made to date? what would be my chances of a refund? is what they have done legal?
