Hi
you've done really well on what you have put in place already to give yourselves a bit of breathing space.
The more expert advice you can get re benefits etc the better. There is a charity/organisation "headway" for brain injured patients and families - they may be a good source of practical advice.
If you can get a cheaper tariff for gas and electric that might be quite a big saving.
Are you able to increase your income or hours at all - not easy I admit with needing to be at the hospital so much.
look after yourself too, as much as you can0 -
Hi,
Sorry to hear about everything you're going through. Hopefully all will get better soon.
Just a wee thought - can you try and find a copy of your husband's employment contract? Maybe it's to do with where he works but my employer (a large national retailer) pays 3 months full pay before going to SSP. Doesn't seem very thoughtful of them not o pay anything at all.
Also, I'm not at all clued up on the pros or cons of these, but could you consider a mortgage payment holiday? Even if just for 6 months rather than having to struggle to find the interest payments for 12 months?
Hope things get better soon x0 -
Hi, I am sorry to here about your OH accident. I myself had a shock in 2009 when Imhad a brain heamorrhage, Employment support Allowance is one of the Benefits that your husband should be able to claim. It is not alot but might help.0

Sorry to hear of your troubles, and your husbands fall. I hope you get sorted soon, there really isnt anything I can add to what everyone has said on here other than can you cut your internet temporarily and use the local library/work or your mobile for email etc??
My sister was in a car accident almost 3 years ago and was in adult critical care for 3 months then high dependancy before going to a brain rehab centre, her employers kept her on full pay (she was a key worker with ex-female cons getting back into society) even thought they didnt have to, out of compassion, they kept her job open, even though in reality we all knew she would never work again. I am shocked that his employers have shown no sympathy whatsoever but I know my company would pay me for 6 weeks and then onto SSP.
Be prepared for a hard fight with the credit card companies, I was there a few years ago, they even threatened to send someone to the door but, after checking, I know that they now cannot do that so don't worry if they say anything like that to you.
I wish you all the very best of luck and a speedy recovery for your husband, at the end of the day, his health comes first xx(((hugs))):TGratitude is the best Attitude :T
