Home responsibilities protection question

I hope this is the right place for this.
I've been a 'stay at home mum' for nearly 6 years now and my youngest child 18 months old. I've been told (rightly or wrongly) that I don't need to be worried that I'm not paying into a pension at this time as the government will be doing 'something' until the tax year after my daughter turns 7 so the little I could put into a stakeholder would leave me worse off - we've just been putting what we can into hubby's pension instead. My first question is, is this true?
The second part is that I've been offered a job, it's not a big job in fact I'll be earning about £2400 a year so not enough to pay NI or tax (I believe) but I'm a bit concerned this will 'opt me out of' this home responsibilities protection and leave me worse off in the long run. Can anyone advise?
Thanks a lot in advance.

There is some information on Home Resonsibilities Protection here:

you can get HRP for each complete tax yr between the aprilafter the birth and april before 16th birthday (15yrs).
Until the child is 6 ie 5 tax yrs,you get an extra topup given to give you extra entitlement to State Second pension (paid on top of basic state pension).
Earning £2400 wont need payment of tax and NI and you will still receive your HRP.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
