How much hassle to remortgage?

I've had my mortgage with/through the Woolwich since Adam was a lad, so I haven't had the inconvenience of moving lender - ever. But now, with interest rates rising, I feel like I really should get myself organised with a fixed-rate mortgage, almost certainly with a different lender.
So, how much hassle is it to move? I can see it's likely to be expensive (in terms of fees, etc), so I don't want to do the wrong thing - I keep bottling out at the last minute!

It is straight forward
In terms of fees/expense - it can be an expensive as you want it to be - so if you do not want to pay any fees at all, there will be schemes to suit.
You just need to make sure the scheme as a whole meets your needs - that's where a whole of market mortgage adviser should help you outI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. woolwich is doing a great 10 yr fixed at 4.98..and as ur already with the woolwich..I think the admin and other fees would be cheaper or you can haggle with them!..therefore making remortgaging even easier!!:dance:smile everyday...cos its free

A recent search for a remortgage done through Martin's recommended site for whole of market checks, London & Country, brought up the Woolwich fixed for 10 years option as the best for us. We did the whole thing throught this broker and it was quick, easy and relatively inexpensive.
I thought there was some rule these days that if a mortgage provider brought out a better deal than the one you are on already they must offer it to you as well - or have I just made that up?0
