Default help...

Hi all,

hope someone can help me - I have a default registered on my Experian credit file dated November 2010 - but I didn't get a letter from the creditor saying they were going to put the notice there - can they do this without telling me??

For info, I was on a DMP and did a full & final settlement last year. I have letters from the creditor saying they accepted that payments (at a discount) and the value left would be written off, and the account closed.

Thanks in advance

Just an update on the above...

I wasn't expecting to get the default removed at all and wrote to HSBC, who marked the default, to ask that they just update my credit report properly as they still had it marked incorrectly after the f&f.

I received a letter back from them apologising for the error and advising they would correct my file accordingly and credit my account with £50 as a gesture of good will.

Fair enough I thought... so I left it a few weeks before checking my file again today expecting the default date to be changed but still there..... but.... IT'S GONE! The account is marked as settled with no balance owing, no default - nothing!

I am so happy right now I can't tell you.

Granted I still have a default from Hillesden Securities but thats from 2008 so I'm sitting tight on that one.

I am over the moon they removed the default, especially as I didn't actually ask them to do so :D
