Using Credit cards during dmp

Hi all,

Im new to this site and was just after some genral advice. We have been in a DMP now for over two years and although it has been tough at times we have never missed a payment. My husband though it may be a good idea to try and rebuild our credit rating and apply for a credit card as most of the debt is in my name and his credit file is better than mine. Im not so sure. the problem is hes already applyed and i am now worrying like mad incase it causes us problems with our dmp. Are we breaking the law? He has applyed for a vanquis card which he says will help build up our credit report. Will this get us into any trouble?

Im 37 weeks pregnant and dont want to worry about this really...arrrrr

Any advice would be much appreciated.

  • have you applied for the DMP jointly?

I know that my DAS provider (v similar to a DMP) advised me that should I take on any further credit whilst they were trying to help me, they would no longer act for me. Not sure if you are breaking the low however, other more knowledgeable people along shortly am sure.

All I know is that it is a big no no & you are advised at the start of any debt arrangement not to take on any further credit.

If your DMP provider finds out that he has taken out more credit they will probably end the DMP.

    Who is your provider?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
