  • I think I mentioned on other threads about some tiny overpayments such as 50p, 25p etc. I have max'd out all my savings account so any spare change in accounts can be transferred straight onto mortgage. A good thing about HSBC mortgage is that it credits instantly from having current account with them. I go to the bank every friday and pay all change in i have and use the odd pennies to pay off to reduce the mortgage.

Do you pay this via the internet? My reason for asking is that i would feel an idiot going into my mortgage company and giving them 50p as an o/p, i can't pay via internet as C&G don't have that option.

    Thanks

  • Sorry - only just noticed you asked me a question. Yes. Always online for that very reason. :D

We went into branch once and they asked us what all the little amounts were, and although i cringed inside a little it wasn't too embarassing really.

it's a pain in the butt.. I need to work out how to manage to OP little bits straight to the mortgage without spending a small fortune calling the bank on an 0845 number. Currently I save small (under £30) it in a websaver extra at 2.5% gross and then transfer it to my current account when at £100. Mortgage is 5.99% though

i contacted my mortgage company and they gave me a sort code and account number so that I can make payments online, just as i could make a payment to any other company through my online banking.

    might be worth asking?
