Looking for someone who knows about POVA first checks in employment

I am a little bit concerned, i have worked in care for years with all different types of clients, young and old and with different disabilities.
My CRB checks have always come back clean, have never had any cautions warnings or any dispute in my jobs around the county.
I got offered a job a few weeks ago subject to checks, references all came back fine but requirement of the job is subject to a POVA first check and then an enhanced CRB.
My employer phoned today to say there had been a problem and that the POVA check had come back saying 'do not employ this person until a full CRB has been completed'.
Another 6 weeks of waiting for the CRB to come through so i can start!
Im just worried why it is saying this, ive never been in any trouble, never had ANY dealings with police, CQC or any healthcare organisations
Anyone who can help i would really appreciate

Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.

If your CRB is clean then you have nothing to worry about.0

i have about 4 years worth of CRBS all clean, im not worried about the CRB im more concerned really about the POVA check and why they have said that, it holds me up for another 6 weeksEven a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. Doesn't the POVA give a reason? It seems a bit vague that it would say "do not employ this person until a full CRB has been completed" when you know your CRB is clean as a whistle.
Maybe because there is no record of you on the POVA first, they get them to do an enhanced CRB as a precaution. Once your CRB comes back clean (as you know it will) the employer should be happy.
Inconvenient that you have to wait 6 weeks, but I guess that's a small price to pay to get the job you want.0 -
thanks, yeah the only reason i can think of is that my name has changed when i was 7 and i've moved around a bit. But theres a POVA section on the CRB and always comes back as 'none recorded' so its just a little confusingEven a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. Yeah, it does seem confusing. It's encouraging that you know for a fact everything will come back OK though
if someone put me through an enhanced CRB it would break their system, the result of a misspent youth, unfortunately0 -
lol
its not so much that if i had any criminal convictions i would be worrying- the care providers are normally quite lenient if you have some criminal records so long as its not to do with the job but the POVA list is serious business i just find it hard to believe that someone with the same surname and DOB is on the list for abusing vunerable people in their care and ive heard storys of the POVA list coming up with errors and people getting turned down jobs because the check has said what mine has :SEven a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. Is there any way of rectifying any errors on the list if something untoward does come back?0
-
probably because if i was on the POVA list for any reason i would have to be seen by the CQC or ISA and explain myself it would be like a trial. I've never been sacked or suspended or been in any trouble with anyone, but if my name was to appear on that list i would be told to push off by my employer and lose that jobEven a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. But if you were on the POVA list you would have had to have been charged with something, surely?
And if CRB comes back clean that should throw up a huge discrepancy?0
