Student nurse mortgage/buy to let?

Hi,

DD1 is halfway through a three year nursing course in Brighton.
Her current rental contract expires in Jan.

I'm fed up of paying through the nose in rent (I'm paying for DD2 elsewhere as well!) to line someone else's pockets.

What are her or my options regarding mortgages?
I'm thinking buy-to-let?
key worker?
I'm quite ignorant about these.

Any other options at all? I don't know if it will be feasible to buy a property but it's worth a bit of research ;)

AB's, have a look at The Co-Op bank website, I have been chatting to them this morning about a key worker mortgage.

    Edit - Tel - 08000 859 052, quote ref 64361.

    HTH :D

  • I rang them.

    So far, we're up to £78K :(

That's 4 1/2 X her bursary plus me as guarantor.

I asked about buy-to-let but they said no family members.

If shes looking at Key Worker shared ownership (as I am) woouldn't 78k be enough for a flat? I'm in need of slightly less than that for the rabbit hutch I have seen in London Zn 2 :(

Anyway, get back in the Arms, you'll get a nosebleed being this high up the forum :p

  • Ok, I have now found out that she is not a key worker, as a student but that she can apply for discounted rent from shared ownership schemes. I can't find any though :(

Ab's, by discounted rent do you mean Intermediate Rent?

    Ab's,

Can't remember where you said you lived, drop me a PM with area details, I've been looking at Key Worker/Intermediate Rent stuff for a few months now so might be able to send you a few links :D
