Your boss agreed to 3 weeks notice and that is what you have acted upon in starting a new job.

He has changed his mind, tough.

Write a letter to him stating the above and proceed on your merry little way to your new job.

So how did one of my former employers withold £300 of my wages when I left after a manager gave me a 'this isn't working out talk?'

Possibly because you touched your toes, and did nothing to get the money back.
If you had seen your union rep (or me) you would not be £300 out of pocket.
Or is this a made up story??
  • Another vote for write a letter saying that as far as you're concerned it was agreed to be three weeks and you're holding them to that.
    or
In three weeks you could ask the wife why she's making it so awkward, you'd have thought she'd be happy to get rid of you because of that thing between you and the boss. Bet you'll be out the door in record time (getting your pay may be difficult).
Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.

Employers do all sorts of things, and get away with it if the employee does nothing about it. Doesn't mean its fair, legal, or right. It just means that's life.

Assuming less than six years have elapsed (or five in Scotland), you could still make a claim for this.

Although there is a time limit of three months for an employment tribunal this type of claim can also be pursued through the county court.
