I find it easiest to soak the beans overnight - the packet usually gives good guides - then boil as per packet. I drain them and let them cool, I bag them at 100grams per person and freeze them.
I often use them in place of mince, add them to soup, add them to veggie dishes.
I don't do red beans as they are very cheap tinned, I use their liquid as well to add extra flavour.
I mainly use haricot beans as they are my fave.
When doing my order on Tesco's I noticed their 'Delia' range had 500grams of dried beans £1.25 (about), I express shopped 'dried beans' and found 500grams for well under £1 - the difference seemed to be the shape of the bag! Hard to see how that could account for an extra 50p.
