    Exactly.

    Providing above and beyond means the customer who has called out a repair man to fix a broken boiler, is the customer who thinks 'I'll use them again.'

    The repair guy who 'only does what his job profile says' leaves a customer thinking 'meh', and probably goes with a different repair man the next time the customer needs a repair done.
