How does Carol Vorderman sleep at night...

I was speaking with a friend this weekend who I hadn't seen for several years. She works as an insolvency solicitor. We got on the subject of debt and, eventually, consolidation loans.
She had nothing good to say about them. When I broached the subject of Carol Vorderman she raised her eyes... "...the trouble is people think that because she has put her name to it then they must be good".
Enough said!

To be honest though, I'm not sure why people seem to think Carol Vorderman is anymore immoral that any other actor in a debt commercial. I accept that she's seen as someone who's good with figures, but for heavens sake...Take some responsibility. If your foolish enough to get yourself into debt, Don't expect a celebrity to give a stuff - they're in the job to make money!!
Personally I hate those 'Picture' loan adds. There she is, sitting around calling out to her children about such things as where the skateboard is...quite casually on the phone borrowing £25000 as if she's ordering pizza!!! For goodness sake!! £25000!! It wasn't THAT long ago that you could buy a house with that!! What's wrong with people that they think this is acceptible. Shame on you if you've spent so much on yourself that you need to borrow money like that to get out of it. Greedy piggy!

There is a 'sticky' at the top of the page, asking us not to discuss this particular case, for possible legal reasons.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

These threads tend to get pulled quickly but i dont see why they should be unless they approach libel.
Coy Carol ought to be big enough to answer to Martin on this one its blatant exploitation to me.0 -
Those picture loans ads are very clever.
They make it all look trivial because they want you to think it IS trivial, just part of day to day life.
And it worksProud to be dealing with my debts :j

Can't remember which loans company she advertises for but remember her saying that they had never reposessed a home (that wasn't an advert - it was when someone asked her why she was doing it).
Could be that they've always failed when they tried though.0 -

For whatever reason, its what Martin's legal team advise. If he didn't ban us from discussing it he simply wouldn't run the campaign at all.
I'd rather have the ban if it allows him to have the campaign and alert so many people to the reality of these adverts (not simply those she is in), especially those people who do not visit the site... in most cases we're not the ones who need telling!!Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. Every circumstance is, of course, different. However, I totally agree with the basis of what you say. Borrowing money and often huge amounts of money is so accepted nowadays and is an integral part of the want now culture we live in.
I do agree that people are to blame for their actions but the loan providers etc have to shoulder some element of culpability. I honestly believe that many people who get into severe debt are suffering from mental problems (I include myself here) and that by making a profit of these people is morally objectionable.0 -
Its a tonight with Trevor Mc Donald job then.0
