It's worth asking around to see if there are local people with allotments or smallholdings who like to trade small quantities of surplus.
We had a great service from a colleague of mine. We gave her a tenner every now and then and she dropped by when she was passing and left a box at our back door of whatever she had surplus of.0 -

I go to auctions which sell farm produce and you can buy a whole tray of cauliflours or brocolli for £1 a tray. Apples, oranges etc... also sold by the tray load. Big sack of potatoes for £1.50 when tescos just wash em and stick a few in a bag & sell for twice the money.
biblejohn is there anyway of finding out if these auctions happen in my area?? Thay sound fantastic. Where are you? I am in Surrey if you know of any there!
