Hello, I've got myself into a big pickle:
Recieved a postcard through the door today saying that Mr****** called on a pre-baliff visit.
I've got to call this person urgently. What shall I do?
Here's how I got into this. In january I got a little pre occupied with sewing some costumes urgently for a show. I was up to my eyeballs in it and I was up for 4 days straight sewing and consequently was extremely tired. The show week happened and I worked and went to the theatre to help in the evenings. I tend not to eat when I'm really busy. So no sleep and no food, I forgot to pay some bills.
Anyway, I have caught up on everything and paid what's due.
I don't know what to do now re the baliff. I don't owe anything now but it will take a couple of days for my account to show the payment as having been made. How soon is this baliff likely to come back? Should I phone the company, C L Finance, and explain what has happened or should I phone the baliff?
Thank you, if anyone can help me out here.

He's not a baliff, they can only visit if CL Finance get a court order, its a PRE-baliff visit. These people have no rights whatsoever so maybe you just don't answer your door for a couple of days until the payment is showing at their end?

It seems a bit extreme that someone came to your door for something that wasn't paid for a few weeks...although you're certain that you've paid everything it might be worth a phonecall to CL Finance to make sure that what you've paid is why they were coming to your door!0

Thank you for your replies. I'm going to phone CL Finance in the morning. I'm hoping this is just a scare tactic (It damn well worked too) and things will resolve themselves. The payment that was in arrears was paid a week and a half ago. This months payment I paid yesterday and doesn't have to clear until the 13th, which done by online banking should clear in the account wednesday/thursday. Unfortunately this is my CCJ account that was a House of Fraser store card. I have set up a standing order to start in March, so busy or not my payments will be made. I'm probably going to have to pay a fee though as they have called round.0
