    OP before we go any further, how long have you worked for the company?
    I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.

    Okay, well the answer to your question is 'they can do anything they like'

    Why?

    Because you have less than one year's service so you have no protection from unfair dismissal, and they can end your employment for any reason (as long as it doesn't contravene the discrimination laws).

    So if you do not accept the change, or if you make a fuss about it, they are perfectly entitled to dismiss you.

    If you keep quiet and work the new hours until you have passed the one year service watershed, it will be too late for you to complain or do anything about it, because by working for that addition al two or three months under the new terms, you will be deemed by your conduct to have accepted the change to your contract.
