Santander Mortgage Statements

Thought I would post to see whether anyone here has ever encountered a similar problem to me regarding obtaining a copy of a mortgage statement...a seemingly straightforward request to which my mortgage lender santander charged me £25.

Fair enough I thought I need a copy of the 2010 statement for another mortgage I am applying for with another lender and as the request is urgent I don't begrudge paying, if they get it over to me snappy.

Was told on the telephone 10 days ago that I should have a copy within 4-5 days, but as yet have not received anything. Rung up to complain today that it still hasn't arrived and was told it could take two weeks. When I explained that I might as well have waited for the original mortgage statement to be sent out I was told that it was my fault and should have requested a copy weeks ago!

What I find puzzling is why have other banks and building society customers already received their statements and why can't a copy in this day and age be faxed or emailed over to a paying customer? Was told that Santander dont have access to the statements because they are sent out and processed elsewhere which also seems a bit ridiculous? Essentially, if you need a statement urgently then forget about it.

Suffice to say that had my name been Lewis Hamilton I'm sure that I wouldn't have had a problem.

I've heard other people talk about how bad Santander's customer service is, and have to say that I'm appalled with how shabby they have been. Will be taking my existing mortgage elsewhere at the earliest opportunity. And forget about complaining to them, their attitude is they don't care less!

I usually got my statement the first couple of weeks in January, still haven't received it, rang up to enquire and I'm guessing lots must be ringing as the first automated message said statements should be received between the 15th Janurary to the 27th of February. So I guess something odd has happened this year, trees on strike or something, although I wish C&G would do an online service, would save the trees and make life generally easier on both our parts.

Thanks Niksan, I agree why on earth when you pay for something as expensive as a mortgage, can't we get access to an online account to see our transactions, mortgage balances etc...Seems stupid that I have online access to every other product I have like credit card, pension, and savings account but nothing for the mortgage. I guess by putting it all online they would make less money out of mugs like me who are willing to pay £25 for a paper copy. Still they will have one less copy to send out next year!

I am having the same problem as we speak, I so far have waited nearly 8 weeks and have now requested 2 copies which they want to charge me £25.00 per copy, this is a joke I asked them to fax me a copy oh no sir can't do that how about send it recorded delivery no sir can't do that, even by carrier pigeon it would have got here by now, I'm so angry I am gonna switch my mortgage as soon as possible, I called again today and instead of helping me the lovely lady tried to sell my home insurance, like I'm going to do that 8 weeks for a statement still not received what's gonna happen if my house burns down? Simply not the service we taxpayers should receive I cant believe that something so simple should be so hard, anyway rant over I will frame it when it finally arrives.
