I've been buying those new ziplock Birds eye frozen pea bags. Brilliant they are.
I stopped the OH throwing the first one we finished the other day as I thought they would be perfect for my beans from the garden.
Then as I was inspecting it this morning, I noticed it had some holes in the top of the back, they look like like the holes you would get from a single paper hole punch. They're not all the way through (have a ring of plastic still in there) and at least one wasn't all the way through.
They're 3 in a line, so obviously put there by the factory?
So questions are.
Is it done on purpose to stop you reusing it? After you pick it up a few times, the perforated plastic breaks?
Can I still reuse it?
Am I too cheap?

Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

Don't know - as rarely buy frozen food.
What I do know is that a lot of plastic bags have deliberately made holes in them - something to do with health and safety I think? (just in case any daft or desperate person tries to put them over their head?).
Maybe thats what they've done in this case? Though - on the other hand they could well be deliberately stopping you re-using them (in which case - shows a distinct lack of business sense not to have peeps keeping a "free advert" for them lying around at home...:rotfl:).
Now you've said that - you've just given me the thought of transferring the frozen peas I DO have (ie the one frozen veg I ever buy..) into some ziplock bags I have anyway. Much more manageable than leaving them all to clidge together in the big bag they came in..0 -

I may be wrongBut I suspect that the holes are there so that when the bags are put into boxes for delivery, the air can escape, so they take up less room, so that more can be carried on each lorry, to keep costs down
Don't see why you can't reuse them:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
I thought you were supposed to freeze stuff in bags with no holes in? Or am I wrong?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

I reuse all ziplock bags that come my way. If anyone has any good tips on getting them dry, I'd appreciate it. I always have them standing upside down on my windowsill after I wash them out if needed.
I have some that I got with whoopsied floured tortillas. They are great! I keep my samosa pastry in them in the freezer, and use them for my sliced up HM bread. I use them for anything really, but thanks for the idea of using them for frozen veg. I usually just use a normal bag for them and keep a stash of wooden clothes pegs to shut them securely.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Try washing them out and then putting over any bottle- they then dry quicker. I do this with all plastic bags.0 -
Why can't you put them on the washing line to dry? Half hour each side should do it nicely.
Anyway.... freezing with bags with holes in it? Good or bad?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
