What time of the year are bicycles and other sporting stuff cheapest

Options
Hi all,
I've been trying to find out...

When are bicycles and other sporting equipment cheapest? Is it at the beginning of summer when shops stock up on these items or is it just before winter when they're trying to get rid of them?

I need to buy 2 kids bike for birthdays in May and I was wondering whether to buy the basic one (on sale at half price) now or whether to wait till April / May as there'll be more variety - hoping the prices will be lower then.

I'll be so grateful for your inputs. Thanks!

Lasha

For bikes it tends to be just after Christmas when the demand is low and shops want to get new stock in.

For sports equipment in general it's when the main season finishes - so football gear would be May, cricket would be September

  • I have a related question - where do you buy adult bikes from?
All I can think of Halford's!

I know I'm been thick - can anyone do us a quick list of national stores who sell bikes?
Or can anyone recommend where to find two fairly reasonable budget mountain bikes?

There aren't many kids bikes on there and the female ones are very very basic - just a pink coloured frame.

    Thanks for all your help.

http://www.evanscycles.com/stores is about the only widespread cycle shop I can think of, most tend to be local or only have a few branches like http://www.edinburghbicycle.com/comms/srv.a4d?f_pg=ourstores.htm
