Hi, my son is moving to Bristol soon (student)
I would like to visit in the summer. So can anyone recommend a hotel in the city, I don't drive, Also I would like to be near the old Vic theatre. Thanks
I doubt it BIZZYIZZY, I'm no expert but I'm sure Bristol isn't in Scotland:D (were you rushing when you posted?) Try the England section, sure they will be more help for you.Booo!!!0 -

Hi,
When I worked in the city (sahm now) we often had clients staying at The Premier Inn.
There's one on King street which is less than a minute's walk from The Old Vic (not stayed there myself) I've had a look on Trip Advisor and it has a score of 4/5.

Hopefully the weather will be nice - there is always lots going on over the summer in Bristol, so check out http://visitbristol.co.uk/ too.,___,

The Marriotts are quite nice and you may be able to get them with Tesco points.
The one near Cabot Circus is nearest the Old Vic Theatre.
There aren't any very recent threads on Bristol hotels but there are a few locals about if you want tips for things to do ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi ya!
I'm Bristolian born and bred! I live here and have quite a bit of experience booking hotels. be warned, it can be a minefield if you aren't in the know as Bristol is massive and many of the cheaper hotels are miles out of the centre and not in walking distance.
As mentioned earlier, the Premier Inn on King Street is ideally placed for the old vic but they don't always have many deals. There is a travelodge if you are happy to go cheap and cheerful especially when they get their saver rooms not too far away which is over the other side of the river (there is a pedestrian bridge).
Cabot Circus is in Broadmead (one of the main shopping areas) and is a little walk to the old vic which is in the main City Centre. I personally don't really like walking at night between the 2 areas so if you are like me you are better off sticking with a hotel in the centre (ideally located to the old vic, Bristol hippodrome, @Bristol, The Arnolfini, The Watershed...only a few of the cultural/art places to go).
In the City Centre there is a huge difference in prices you can pay. The Swallow was always my aspiration....now a Marriott but still in the upper end of what you can get. There is also Jury's which is very close to the old vic and the floating harbour and The Thistle Bristol which isn't too far either.
A Radisson Blue has not long opened too which would be ideally located. I've never used these but i understand that they do have competitive prices?
Anyway, might give you a few ideas. Hope you have fun!
