Thanks for that I have just ordered it to go with the other two. I really hope that it will be a best seller on Amazon as the author has been so kind to everyone on MSE sending out all of the book plates without charge.
Good luck with the new book0 -
That's strange, I can't find the original thread either

I am waiting for the latest book to arrive any day now, received dispatch notice already. First two books keeping my two grandchildren engrossed.

i just checked through my posts as i posted on that thread and its not there so maybe the whole thread has been deleted?!?!!?0

Hopefully I'm being cynical, but maybe someone deleted it because it was the author that started the thread?
That'd be pretty horrid, he spent absolutely ages sending out those book plates. I had two lots of three.0 -

Hello all!
Sorry for dredging this up from the depths, but I was scared to start my own thread in case it got deleted like the last one did. Grrr.
I'm at a bit of a loss as to the etiquette, really. In the thread that got deleted all I did was mention that the two books I then had available were down to £1.99 each on Amazon, and I offered to sign bookplates and post them out to anyone who wanted them. The cost and time involved in doing this probably outweighed any royalties I earned on the books at that price, but I didn't mind as this site has helped me save a fortune over the years, so it all balances out in the end.
I hope everyone who asked got their bookplates in the end. There was a bit of a delay on some of them as, as I mentioned at the time, my mum was diagnosed with cancer while I was still writing them up and sending them out. I'm pretty sure everyone who asked for one got one, though.
Anyway, we decided to move house to be closer to my parents while my mum was going through treatment, which put me well behind deadlines, which has meant I haven't been here on the boards. Things are calming down now, though, so I thought I'd drop back in and say hello.
For those of you who enjoyed the books, there's an exclusive short story starting tomorrow, which is being serialised across five book-related blogs, to celebrate publication of the fourth book in the series, DOC MORTIS (£3.69 on Amazon, buy it now!
)
I'm a bit scared to post the link to where the short story is going to be available, in case a moderator deletes/bans/electrocutes me, but if you take my name - Barry Hutchison - and then add a .com after it, you'll find my site, and there should be a link to the Doc Mortis Blog Tour up the top of the page somewhere.
Thanks again to all of you who have supported my books, and who requested the book plates. You're a great bunch, so you are

Hi Barry,
I'm sorry to hear about your Mum, is she currently having treatment? I hope she's doing well.
I was one of the people who replied on your deleted thread - crazy it was deleted
Anyway you kindly sent me two bookplates for our son Elliot. We kept the books for his birthday, which was a couple of weeks ago, and he's now read your first three books and he's just ordered Doc Mortis from Amazon out of his pocket money - he has loved reading your books, couldn't put them down! He says they are "brilliantly spooky - 10/10" and he's over the moon to have them signed by you.
Just thought you'd like some feedback, I'll be reading them myself soon
Thanks for the info about the short story, Elliot is sitting by my shoulder waiting to get to your website and have look!
All the best,

Its a shame that the original thread was deleted.
I would urge anyone with children to get Barrys books, my daughter absolutely loves them. scrap that anyone who enjoys reading should buy them.
my wife is now also addicted and is now reading Raggie Magie. she loved Mr Mumbles and i am now reading it.
Barry was also kind enough to send out Book plates for my daughter which have become prized possessions to her.
I hope that things turn out well Barry.
Best wishes
