Top Tips for weekly shop??

Always make sure you buy more than enough milk and bread for the week so that you're not tempted back into the supermarket mid week. As GreyQueen said, these things can be frozen. If you don't have room to freeze milk, try long life milk, though this isn't to everyone's taste. Alternatively, try Cravendale, found alongside fresh milk. It's real milk which has gone through an extra process to keep it fresher longer. It has to be kept in the fridge, but has a longer shelf life unopened and will keep for at least a week once opened. That way you won't be throwing away sour milk.0

as this has dropped down the OS board, ive moved it to shopping and groceries
Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

I make my own veg soups. They taste better when the carrots start to bend, broccoli turns yellow etc. To make a veg soup creamy - stir in a couple of teaspoons of soft cheese before you blend it.0

I bulk buy as well - even I live alone! I bought 6 boxes of Oatibix a few weeks ago at Morrisons as was on half price. Weetabix makes me ill. Bought 6 boxes of Ainsley Harriott's Cup a Soups as they are on BOGOF at work and 3 packs of 4 Princes tinned tuna as they are BTHP - £2.42 which are normally £5.something0

For staples (eggs, milk, bread, etc.) I have a mental list of what's cheaper where eg 85p for 6 eggs from Aldi, veggies and milk from the greengrocers, etc.
I stick to Aldi (really boring) and try to avoid the "proper" supermarkets, except if I know I am going to need something slightly fancy like coconut milk. If I have to go to Tesco, ect., I try to be blinkered and not let myself by tempted.
I have my shopping list on my BlackBerry (through the "lister" app) and try not to deviate from it, unless I can justify it (BOGOF, etc.)Keep calm and carry on0
