couple of questions?

Hi got a couple of questions for you lovely people on here and hoping someone may be able to help me! :)

First question, Is there a way of removing really stubborn nicotine stains from UPVC? House we have just moved into has a really stained inset on the back of the front door. I've tried sugar soap and it has taken some of the yellow out but not all of it. Any ideas of what else may work? it doesn't look very nice at the mo and I want to try and get it gleaming again.

Second question, I bake bread at home once in a while, haven't been doing it for very long. I wanted to bake a loaf later but I have run out of bread flour and have no funds to buy any more or bread for that matter until I get paid on Monday, I have a bag of SR flour? Would that work for a one off?

Many Thanks

Em xx

Hmmm have you tried neat bleach? Warning - that's me guessing but not knowing how it will affect the frame but I would probably try neat bleach in a small patch and cross my fingers and hope for the best!

There is a thread here with loads of ideas

Yes you can use SR flour with other raising agents. Let me find you a recipe !

Nigels lazy loaf uses plain flour and bicarb (you don't have to use wholemeal, could be all white flour). Make your own buttermilk by curdling milk with lemon juice or vinegar

Bread with non bread flour should help - ta daaaaaaaaa! took me ages to find that:o:j:D

ill merge this with quick qs later

Emmie....you don't prove bread made with SR flour....use flour, salt and milk (not sour or buttermilk), knead lightly, shape into loaf shape, slash top and bake until cooked....simples!

    Good luck
