Hiya All

Kevster here. What a superb bunch you all are. Im just taking stock of my debt:

Lloyds TSB OD 1 - £10,000
Lloyds TSB OD 2 - £5,000
Lloyds TSB CC Wife - £10,000
Lloyds TSB CC Mine - £3400
MBNA CC Mine - £7800
Capital One CC Mine -£1100
John Lewis CC Mine £900
Natiowide Loan Balance - £1800
Black Horse Loan Balance - £2000

Just thought you may like a laugh:

Lloyds TSB returned a DD yesterday for £16.20 coz it took me £7.10 over the £10k limit - Mind you I did pay in £500 on the same day but after they returned it.......little tykes that they are. Just opening a citibank Sterling account at the Mo!

MBNA wont acept a reduced payment from me because I spent on the card this month...and wait for it.....becuase i am not yet in arrears with the £170pm payment. They are obviously waiting for me to go behind.

I have been late with a few payments to most of them but as yet am not in arrears on anything, just want reduced payments as I am spending more than I earn...(about 36k pa). I have done all the "change utilities" etc.....due to get about £3k ish in January from a VAT claim. I could do with saving about £300 per month.

Life is so funny if it wasnt so serious. Help.........................! Lol
MBNA are a joke.

Why open yet another bank account?

You are going the same way down the long winding road that leads to bankruptcy. Continually opening new bank and credit card accounts will not get you out of debt.

You need to do a full SoA so that you can see where you can save money each month, then decide what to do about your debts you already have.
  • The new bank account is so that I can have a current account that is not overdrawn to start with. I guess its just a feel good factor of no minus figure in the final colum.

welcome to the forum, you realise yourself that you are spending more than what you earn, the best way to find out how much over you are spending is to keep a diary, if you post an S.O.A here the good folks can give you advise on where you can make saving and reduce your debt. good luck

for claiming back Bank charges have a look at this site.

    Hello and welcome!

Well done for posting and for getting started with tackling your situation. I think it's a good idea to have a new bank account where your income can go in and then you can make your bill payments and debt repayments.

I was overdrawn by £3,000 when I started, and I changed current accounts as soon as I realised I would never come out of the hole when the hole absorbs all my salary :rotfl:

Please post your full SOA, see how here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=107280 and we'll take it from there. Just hang in there, it will get easier :)

It stands for Statement Of Affairs - a list of all incomings and outgoings. You can read SouthernScouser's post at the top of the board for info on how to put one together :)

    Statement of affairs.

Include all your income, outgoings, debt giving details of interest rates.

When you have done this others will post ways of reducing your outgoing, increasing your income, renegotiating loans etc, and give you lots of support and encouragement.
