It takes the Fisher price take n play metal engines, and you might find the take along thomas learning curve engines which work with it too. Learning curve sold the takealong line to Fisher Price, and now it is called take n play, and is made by mattel. But they all work together.

Toys r us are currently selling off some of their old take along stock - I managed to get the Birthday celebration thomas (Thomas and two carriages carrying a birthday cake and a secret present in a box - for £2.99! I got it instore but booked it online. There are other ones for £1.99 eg stanley, molly. They are all take along.

Learning Curve now make the chuggington line, and they work on the take n play playsets, but they dont couple with the take n play thomas engines as their links are different.

Hope that helps someone as it took ages at first for me to work it all out - but now I know what I'm hunting down for my grandson! There are videos on youtube to help as well (lol sounding like a fanatic)

This isn't actually real Thomas the Tank Engine - get your kids to read the original books (or failing that, read them to them ;)).

Sorry, it's just that a Canadian company have ruined Thomas. :(

The ones with Ringo Starr narrating are the best! :)

Do you mean the ones with the animation rather than the real thomas?

That wasn't Five's fault. That was because Britt Alcott sold out to a canadian company and it's all done over there now.

The ones they air on milkshake every morning - I'm not sure if they're animated.

Oh right. I'll shift the blame to that Canadian company then. Still annoyed though :p
