BIG Thankyou :o)

I know this is a bit premature but I wanted to say a huge thankyou to everyone on this board- I have got so many excellent ideas for cheap but beautiful gifts! I've never really thought of making my own pressies before and although i'm taking it slow i've so far made a few baskets for chocolate lovers and i've even attempted to make my own bath goodies!

Today I made my first ever batch of white chocolate fudge and WOW! Bit on the rich side, but one batch serves 4-5 baskets :j To coin another mser's phrased- i'm chuffed as monkeys :D

Keep up the good work everyone lol

(btw does anyone have any sources of citric acid and large quantities of bicarb around the Camberley/Sandhurst area? I'm really getting brave  )
THANK YOU

Yeah, I second that. I joined this forum back in March but haven't posted more than in the last 3 weeks, in this Xmas section alone.

I have found some brilliant ideas, in particular the hampers and I think I'm rapidly starting to bore everyone with my talk of what hampers I am creating for Xmas! :o

It's saved me a whole load of cash and heartache... so indeed, THANKS GUYS!!!
  • Not in your area I don't think but try https://www.justasoap.co.uk I just bought a load of bath bomb stuff off them and they deliver very quickly - postage costs a bit but then it is heavy stuff!

Can I second that thank you please?

I have surpassed myself this year. My Dad, who has everything, has money to buy it if he wants it but doesn't want everything, has been getting the whisky/chocolate/slippers selection for ages. This year, to go with the whisky, I am making him an "emergency hamper" with wind up torch, tealights and holders, wind up radio etc. etc. Am also doing a cappucino (sp) box. Am hoping for the Baileys frother to go in it and have cappucino and chocolate shaker - am getting cocoa to go in it tomorrow.

Its not just about what people actually post, but it gets your brain energised as well.

AND - aren't there a lot of kind people who go out of their way to help you. I like it here. Many thanks

  • I'd like to add my thanks too. Apart from the wonderful ideas, what has warmed the cockles of my heart is the fact you are all trying so hard to make Christmas special. I hate the commercialisation of Christmas, you guys have proved there's still a lot of love and thought out there!
  • I too would like to say thanks. There have been some lovely ideas on this site. It is so nice to think that there are people out there who are ready to help others out in such a friendly way!!

This site is making Christmas a lot easier to get through money-wise!! Except the poor BF who is sick of hearing my ideas every day. Hehe. Well, they'll benefit him as they're ideas for his parents presents. :o

Yes, so to all on this site    .
How long til pay day?

I found this recepie posted here some two weeks ago on the Christmas & winter board, really tasty and I highly recomend it :D

    No cook white chocolate fudge

I found this recipe last year - it is very easy particularly as it doesn't need cooking (apart from melting the chocolate). It also makes a lot so it's good value. I'm not sure how long it would last although that wasn't an issue as it disappeared very quickly! Easy enough for children to make too.

200g white chocolate; 175g unsalted butter; 50g condensed milk; 500g icing sugar sifted

    1. Melt the white chocolate in a bowl over a pan of just simmering water, making sure the bowl does not touch the water. Stir until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
    2. Beat the butter in a large bowl. Stir in melted chocolate and condensed milk. Gradually beat in icing sugar until you have a smooth, non sticky dough. Press in to a non-stick baking tin, about 25x15x4cm deep. Put in the freezer for 15 minutes to firm up.
    3. Carefully run a sharp knife around the edge of the chocolate fudge and turn out on to a chopping board - firmly tap the tin to release the fudge. Cut evenly into 48 squares.
    4. If you want to you can melt 50g of milk or plain chocolate (as point 1). Spoon in to a piping bag fitted with a small plain nozzle and pipe flowers or shapes on to the fudge squares. Allow the chocolate to set before gift wrapping or eating.

For wrapping I bought some cellophane from e-bay but I know other MSErs have managed to buy some from their local florist. It is a cheap and pretty way of wrapping and you just need to tie it at the top with curling ribbon.
  • i second that too- what a great thread! :)
